This seven minute video describes the allegory that can be discerned in the paining at the Yale Center for British Art on the Tudor Dynasty. Does the painting "take sides?"
A description of elements of the building of the Duomo, highlighting Brunelleschi's achievement in a brief animated piece. This film does an effective job of enlivening connections between historical events and specific advances. It, too, is a little dated in its presentation. This starts a little slow, but the narrator shows an appealing personality through her substantial accent, and explains aspects that will ensure that from now on, you will find Gothic facades interesting. Really! I think it's cued up a fesw minutes in by mistake. Rewind to watch from the beginning so you see the set up of the storyline that runs through it. This is one of an awesome series based on Macauley's awesome series of books on architecture and society. You are asked to watch it in its entirety. It's a little long, a lot dated, and worth your attention. |
